Regenerative Home Life
The Founding Families
There is no better place to gather a family - to create a happy home.
The emergence of Costa Rica as a destination for eco-tourists, adventure sport travelers, part-time and full-time expats, from around the world began in earnest in the mid-1980s. Suddenly the world realized that despite violence, revolution, and war in the rest of Central America, Costa Rica remained at peace, although not entirely untouched by events in bordering countries.
The award of the Nobel Peace Price to then-president Oscar Arias brought Costa Rica’s unique position within the Central American conflicts, and as a bridge between North and South America, into the global spotlight. This is a nation of warriors for peace, and lovers of the earth.
Just as over a million American travelers found Costa Rica last year, so have over 50,000 American retirees - expats, almost exclusively settling in the Central Highlands around San Jose, or the Pacific Coast. Costa Rica is a great place for retirees for many reasons. Think warm weather year-round, bargain real estate (foreigners have the same property rights as locals), friendly people, the Pura Vida vibe, and low-cost but high-quality health care. Plus, it’s easy to qualify for residence as a retiree with the 'pensionado' program. All you need is $1,000 per month per couple from Social Security, disability, or a pension and you are on the road to citizenship.
Today 250,000 Americans retire every month.
For our potential residents, joining a community in the Caribe Sur fulfills a need. We have in fact solved the largest reason expatriates cite for troubles - a loss of connection. We offer a well designed, constructed and managed sustainable community of expats, affiliated with an eco-adventure resort
filled with the best and the brightest.
This makes owning a home at Pura Vida Village a unique opportunity to happily join the global village.
If you’re looking for the simple life lived cheaply, some would say authentically, you couldn’t do much better than the Caribe Sur. This string of small fishing villages surrounded by national parks is a stronghold of Costa Rica’s Afro-Caribbean culture and the welcoming indigenous Bribri. The community moves to the rhythm of calypso and reggae. This is true eco adventure community living - Pura Vida.
Early marketing efforts will focus on the resort and festival activities, generating public awareness of the project as a whole, which will ultimately attract the fortunate 50 founding families. We have several home sites promised to family and friends, and early investors. These good folks will attract and welcome the other founding families.
Residents will govern themselves in an open and democratic manner. Our in-house construction crew will work with owners to use native bamboo and sustainable local woods to create happy homes, our resident staff will manage, maintain, and secure the community, as well as, assisting in renting homes if desired.
We look to become a working model of a range of ideas from regenerative environmental practices, 'cradle to cradle' zero waste management, cutting edge energy solutions, and finally, the embodiment of a conscious, vibrant, happy community of engaged global citizens.
Truly, a home is where your heart is. Come re-enchant your world.
